A botanical garden is “an institution having documented collections of living plants for the purpose of scientific research, conservation, exhibition and education”.

(Botanic Gardens Conservation International, 1999)

Since 2003, the Giardino della Flora Appenninica has strengthened and increased the activities of exhibition, research, teaching and dissemination, expanding and improving the spaces managed, organizing conferences, summer schools and recreational events, planning internships for degree theses and conducting qualitative studies on conservation and germination concerning species of naturalistic and agri-food interest.
